is a extreamly rare item to find, recently picked this up at a estate sale, with a bunch of other old garage advertising items, the previous owner was a garage owner in the 1920s-40s era. This item has to be the neatest item I have ever come across or seen in my 25 years of collecting antiques. After doing a bit of research on this, I found out from a few seniors & garage owners, that this was a display suspension for Mohawk Balloon Tires in the early 1930s. Not a toy, made of heavy steel with a nickel plated frame and suspension, it has 4 miniture 5 5/8" diameter tires x 1 1/8" wide Mohawk Balloon Tires. Each tire marked MOHAWK CORD BALLOON TIRES The Mohawk TireCo Akron O 33 x 600 For 21 x 5 Rim , marked on both sides of tire, tires in great condition, appear to be soloid rubber with a bakelite wheel with red paint on them, believe they w repainted at one time, t are cracks in the backlite wheels, but they are two part so held together by the hub, dosn't affect them, still turn good and display well. "NOW" this suspension has unbelievable miniture machining done, sway bars, tie rods, ball joints, bolts and spring mechanics, that are unbelievable, from the early ages or automobile, the differential works, aaand the universals turn, it was only meant as a display frame to show suspension and tires. Its nickel plated steel, but t is some old silver touching up to it, inside frame andsuspension arms, may of been repaired at one time, t is a baar on the front, that looks like a sway bar that hooks to ball joints, broken off at each end, could be mig welded, minor and dosn't take away from the item, has a big spring built into suspension both ends to make it move up and down. A heavy made steel scale of a car frame and suspension, with early 1928-1935 era Mohawk Balloon Tires, measures 31" long x 12 1/2" across rtire edges x 5 1/2" high on the tires. Has a bit of weight , it weighs 13 pounds by itself. I am told from a few older e-bay collectors & old garage & car dealers, that this was actually a salesmen sample, & garage model to show garage owners how the tires look mounted on a vechile, was aalso gioven to dealers that dealt in Mohawk Tires as a tire & suspension display frame, great detail to a original early car suspension.
