This lot of 8 newspapers has prominent front page headings and front page coveragte of the 1930 baseball World Series between the Philadelphia 's and the St Louis Cardinals . The A's won and there is a great inside page team photo of the Phiuladelphia A's after winning the World Series. In the 1930 World Series, the Philadelphia Athletics defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in six games, 4–2. Philadelphia's pitching ace Lefty Grove won two games. The St. Louis Cardinals led the National League in runs scored and averaged six runs per game in the regular season, but could only manage two runs per game during this World Series. The 1930 Series victory was the Athletics' fifth (including 1910 , 1911 , 1913 , and 1929 ) and final in Philadelphia until moving to Kansas City and later Oakland, where the A's have won four titles.
