Original 1930 brick from Notre Dame Stadium (stadium completed in 1930 , first football game played at Notre Dame stadium was in the Fall of 1930 , Notre Dame went on to win the national championship that year) , removed from the stadium during the 1996-97 stadium renovation project . The majority of the bricks that were removed in the stadium expansion were shattered and destroyed . Some of the bricks that remained intact in their original state were salvaged and here is one of them . Measures 8 inches long , by 4 inches wide , and 2 1/4 inches thick , weighs a solid 6 pounds . THESE ORIGINAL 1930 NOTRE DAME STADIUM BRICKS ARE ONE OF THE RAREST NOTRE DAME STADIUM COLLECTIBLES EVER SOLD .
