Up for auction is the 1930 issue of the "NOIZ" - published by the Mt. Zion Hospital School of Nurses in San Francisco California. The book measures about 8" x 11", has 94 pages filled with cool vintage photos, stories, poems, nursing school details. The school apparently was very small and very selective - only 14 in the graduating class. The faculty lists has many notable physicians and surgeons. The editors of the yearbook had fun with putting this together, with some candid snapshots and clever quotes about and by some of the nurses and faculty. For example, the Massage Instructor - a dour "Miss Richard" says: "Ticklishness is childish - tfore t is no such a thing". Make sure we don't get her next time we go for a massage! Or Dr. William Voorsanger, the Tuberculosis specialist is quoted: "I don't know whether it is the diet, the cigarettes or the clothes that ladies wear these days, that causes T.B." Let's hope he was kidding. A fun book, I suspect printed in a very limited number. Great San Francisco historical medical item. The book is in very nice condition, no damage to note, a few signatures from students and faculty. Buyer pays $2.50 shipping and handling via media mail in the US.
