It will be perfectly clean and ready for use..we anticipate no stains...focusing on the fringe whitening and a small orange popsicle spot So, it will be clean as can be but if you want it 'absolutely perfect' you can arrange to dye the cottonheads (cottonheads are the white spots of cottony pulls from the weft & welt or cotton base beneath the wool) age, vacuuming and maybe cats cause these..I do not really know but I see tons more on most rug pics so I think mine is minimally cotton~headed ; ) Antique art deco chinese rug NICHOLS SUPER CHINESE RUG amazing REALLY LARGE from the 1930's wool on cotton~heavily knotted and dense 9'x12' (nichols pamphlet below says it takes 4 weavers a month to weave and knot this size rug) This is a treasured family piece. We have taken care of it, cleaned it a few times(which is easy..it doesn't fade or release color) So we are now offering it as our household includes too many children to spend time preoccupied with guarding the carpets. ; ) Lucky ebay bidders can have the pleasure of owning this ULTRA RARE Green art deco rug. It is green...icy on top and bright thalo polychrome emerald greenish~blue beneath..like flourescent algae color but pale on the surface from 90 years of UV exposure maybe. The fading is even. It is forgiving too of spills and very densely woven wool on cotton weft and welt. One spot is on it..and that is from an orange popsicle. Your cleaner will know how to remove having the knowledge of its origin..and it is very small but I need to be accurate here. Nichols actually recommends using soap, water, and surprise~gasoline! The pattern is simpler and does not include a rainbow bouquet or plumage as featured on many nichols rugs. Instead it has an area of floral leafy patterns, like lotus blossom and a similar border of chinese design with chinese characters on each side. Here is the text from the original brochure! Brief history The art of making woven rugs and tapestries goes far back into the musty realms of antiquity. Chinese rugs may have originated from other countries such as Egypt and Persia but the first woven rugs were spoken of in Chinese annals so long ago that Chinese carpets may well have antedated those of any country. The theories as to whether rug making originated in China or came from the Near East cannot be substantiated because records so far back in the dim past are confusing. The growth of rug weaving may even have been contemporaneous in the two parts of the world as a result of the intercourse maintained by early traders.
