1930's BONZO Big Belly W/Fly String Holder GREAT Vintage Collectibles:Comics ( This is a great full length ceramic Bonzo figural string holder. Bonzo is the white bull dog or bull terrier made popular by artist George Studdy in the comics in the 1920's. Bonzo is approximately 6 1/2" high and with him laying flat on his back his belly sticks up almost 3 inches. The string hole in his mouth and an embossed amusing fly painted on his chest. On the back in the cavity where the ball of string would rest. There is a black stamp with a M in a laurel wreath "hand painted" Japan underneath that. I see no major flaws at all. There is a couple flea chips on the backside rim where the hole is to put the string in and he is missing some paint on his eyes. Really great collectible!!
