Up for auction is this extremely rare ( I have not been able to find another offered for sale) 1930"s cast iron racer. This is an original unmolested example that is in amazing condition. It is made by the Champion Hardware Co. of Geneva, Ohio. It produced toys only from 1930 to 1936 as a stoploss during the depression. This example is an indy type race car. It is approx. 5 1/2" long 2"wide and 1"high. It is quite heavy and has a driver that is held in place by a "hook" that goes around the rear axle. The Champion name is embossed behind the driver on the rear deck of the car. Condition is amazing with 90% of it's original paint, and I think very little play wear. Not only is the driver there, the paint detail on the little man is all there and is 3 colors. The wheels are old rubber mounted on small wooden hubs and in good condition save one which is damaged from age but still attached ( tried to show this in one of the pictures) This piece displays very well. In my opinion the condition of this piece is a strong c-8 +. This is a must for the serious collector, and it will be a long hunt to find another like this one. I think the rarity and condition of ths car pushes the value towards the high end of book value $350+. Please look closely at all pictures and consider them in your assesment of condition.
