This Auction is for A Circa 1930's Handmade Crib Quilt. #4 The quilt measures approx. 49 inches wide X 58 inches long. Beautifully pieced together by hand using white, red and blue cotton fabrics (blue fabric has faded to almost white). There are 5 hand appliqued Sunbonnet Sues on the quilt. This quilt has a one letter monogram "M" for Marie done in blue. The cotton fabric is super soft....the feeling that only time can give to a vintage textile. Quilt has a thin layer of cotton batt filling. Besides being hand appliqued with embroidery stitches....the quilt is hand top stitched at approx. 6-7 stitches per inch. Quilt has not been laundered. This little quilt has some yellowing, fading of colors, several spots and light wear consistent with age. Fabric is still strong and not shattering. Still ever so beautiful even with previously mentioned flaws. I will be including Photostatic copies all of the paperwork that I have and a photostatic copy of a black & white photograph of the quints with one of the crib quilts shown in the picture. I purchased 4 of 5 Quint owned quilts here in Connecticut at a local country auction. Just part of a large collection of a private collector located in Maine USA. There is a paper trail of how they came to be here in the USA. I have a photostatic copy of a note Dated July 18, 1972 which was notarized read more
