This beautiful 15decade French rosary dates from around 1930 and is from Lourdes. There are 169 beadsin total - 153 small round Ave’s and 16 slightly larger, rose-carved Paters , which are all made from natural dark ebony and strung together with a silver-coloured metal (probably steel) chain. The Crucifix is made from ebony with silver-coloured metal backing/wrap-around, as is the corpus and central medal (the front of which depicts Our Lady of Lourdes, with Saint Bernadette on the reverse). The words ‘ LOURDES ’ and ‘EBONY, FRANCE’ are clearly impressed on the reverse of the Crucifix. No other markings or hallmarks are present. The overall length of the Rosary, when laid end-to-end, measures approximately 32 ½ inches. This rosary remains in excellent condition, and would appeal to a collector.
