SilverPark Oaks Fine Art Auctioneers Fine Art Auction of oil paintings and works on paper Sourced from private collections, auctions, antique fairs, markets and dealers throughout Europe. "The Mediterranean", Continental School, circa 1930's. Oil painting on board measuring: 13.75 by 17.5 inchesunframed. Absolutely beautiful oil painting that dates to the 1930's period. The work shows this lovely view of a hillside town in a warmer location. As for its exact location, I am slightly guessing at the South of France but it could be any Mediterranean town along that coastline. As for the artist - the work is unsigned with no further clues on the back either. Annoyingly! There is no doubt that the work is of excellent quality and decorative appeal - it is stunning and without doubt it is by a very decent artist. I like its almost cubist style and the colors in the work - it reminds me a little of the works by Andre Derain or Andre Lhote or even Raoul Dufy - very similar in some respects. One suggestion has been made to similarities between it and the works of the Russian/ French artist: Constantine Terechkovitch but again, this is just opinion. It came with one other similar painting that is listed today - please see my other items .The painting is in fair condition and pretty much untouched since it left the artists hands, ie: no signs read more
