I originally purchased this primitive antique pie safe, pastry cabinet, cake keeper or bread box to dispaly on a Hoosier Cabinet shelf but it doesn't fit w I want it to go. When I purchased it I was told it is from the 1930's. It was previously used as a breadbox but I believe it is a pie safe or cake safe. The color is a dark jadite green (closer to 1st picture). The paint is original and has come off in some spots (mostly on the top - you can see the shiny metal as on the sliding door). It has a carrying handle on top. The door slides to the side and it has the original wood handle. T are some dings or bumps (could probably be bumped out but I liked it this way) and the metal (may be tin - I don't know) is very sturdy. The inside is the unpainted metal color and it has some light surface rust on the inside bottom as well as around the outer bottom track (could be sanded - it doesn't go thru and the bottom is very sturdy). T are airholes on the back. This safe is about 9 1/2" tall (w/o handle) and 12 1/2" diam. This is a nice piece of history and the condition only adds to its charm. These safes are not easily found. Please email if any questions. Please see my other auctions - I am always happy to combine shipping. Paypal or money order accepted plus shipping of $10 (insurance optional). Thank you!
