1930's Red Gerdago Pixie Red Bookends Spelter These 1930's Red Gerdago design spelter pixie bookends are red. The red paint is intact except the following areas: paint chips on hands, on one leg of each girl, points of the hats (also mis-shapen on one girl) and on the back of one hat train on one girl. The books are missing from both pieces. The black painted bases have minor chips, very minor. The bases seem to be weighted spelter. The golden paint is in good conditon and the faces still have makeup and blue eyes. The base is 6 1/2 inches by 3 1/4 inches by 1 1/8 inch tall. The pixies are 6 ¼ inches tall. J.B. Hirsch produced this design of pixie dancer from the Gerda Iro Gerdago Pixie Reader mold. The rare bronze versions, (not available here) were signed. The spelter version were mass produced, though hand painted and were left unsigned.
