You are bidding on a truly vintage leather minor league ball, signed by 18 players, 10 of which I can say played in the majors from 1904 - 1940's. My research shows that this ball was probably signed sometime between 1934 - 37. The marquee names on this ball are that of 1920's Brooklyn Dodger, Gordon Slade , and that of Gabby Street , who came up as a player with the 1904 Reds. Gabby played for a few years, established himself as a not too good catcher, and turned to coaching, and managing. He guided the Cards to the World Series, in 1931, and after a few more years with the Cards, returned to the American Association, to manage. That's w this ball comes in. Most of the recognizible names, played with the Chicago White Sox, in the mid '30s. And I found that the Minniapolis Millers was a White Sox affiliate, at that time. More research can be done to possibly find out who the remaining signatures are. is who I found, and their rookie years: Johnny Pasek, '33 Tigers, Lou Fette, '37 Braves, Ira Hutchinson, '33 White Sox, Vernon (George) Washington, '35 White Sox, Johnny Rigney, '37 White Sox, Art Henry, '29 Tigers, Hank Steinbacher, '37 White Sox, and Jackie Hayes, '27 Senators. Some great really old chestnuts, on a vintage ball, possibly game used, based on coloring, and the fact that leather baseballs were very scarce, in those days. The signatures are for the most part, boldly signed in period ink. An interesting project, to continue. Comes with a JSA Auction Letter. S/H is $6.00 in the US and Canada. Insurance is always at your option. Multiple wins get combined shipping. If you are bidding on multiple balls over a reasonable amount of time, just let me know, and I'll send one invoice when you are done, to help minimize your shipping fees. I prefer Paypal , but also accept checks, and M/O's. And as always, bid until it hurts. Seriously, thanks for your interest.
