See the scans. This is a 1932 Christmas Dinner Menu from the 23rd Bombardment Squadron, stationed at Luke Field, Hawaii. Measures approximately 4.5 x 7.5". Includes photo paper cover with insignia to front, bomber photo to back. Interior shows the menu itself accompanied by full roster. I have a number of 23rd Bombardment Squadron menus up for auction this week.
The 23rd spent the 20's and 30's stationed in Hawaii. On Dec. 27,1935, the Mauna Loa volcano on the island of Hawaii erupted,threatening the city of Hilo. Six Keystone bombers of the 23d used precision bombing tactics to drop twenty 600-pound bombs in the path of the volcanoâe(tm)s lava flow, thus saving the city of Hilo by diverting the lava away from the city. Condition excellent with only slight foxing to interior as a detriment to overall condition. Please note that the original ribbon tie is present but was removed proir to scanning. NOTE: I am very good about getting my orders out promptly, sometimes same day and almost always within 24 hours. However, lately the U.S. postal "service" has been very spotty. In the last several months, I have had first class insured items take over a month to California and two weeks in New York State. Most are delivered in a timely fashion, but a few are not. ALL ITEMS MUST HAVE AT LEAST MINIMUM ($50) INSURANCE. NO EXCEPTIONS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! Buyer pays $3.00 for insured domestic postage. International postage is greater and will be accessed by request. I WILL NOT SHIP TO ITALY, THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA OR THE CONTINENT OF ASIA. I will combine postage on multiple orders.
