"S ANTA B ARBARA " This menu was for ' Diner d' Adieu' for passengers landing at Valparaiso, Chile on Sunday, February 15th, 1931 SOUTH BOUND VOYAGE 35 The menu lists included: California Fruit Cocktail Boiled Fresh Salmon with Hollandaise Parisienne Potatoes Baked Sugar Cured Ham Jumbo Figs and many more delicacies V iv id C ol or s The Menu items are listed in two languages.... English and Spanish Includes the names of the crew, among which is Captain W. C. Renaut, Ship's Commander An article from a 1928 'Brooklyn Standard Union Newspaper' stated: New Liner's Skipper, Capt. William C, RENAUT , of 7012 Eighth avenue, has been placed in
command of the new Grace Line motorship, "Santa Barbara". Capt. RENAUT is a veteran commander of Grace Line boats, having sailed for years between New York and Valparaiso, Chile. His new ship is 486 feet long, of 64-foot beam and has a
displacement of +5,000 tons. A page in the brochure also lists the Muscial Program of the Santa Barbara Orchestra On the back is a colorful map of SOUTH AMERICA showing the route taken along the coast line. Also on the back, in the bottom border, are the words: "FORTNIGHTLY SAILINGS" The definition of which I discovered means: ''Occurring every two weeks''
