INCREDIBLE ATTIC FIND!
EFFANBEE BICENTENNIAL GEORGE WASHINGTON Patsy Pair in ORIGINAL BICENTENNIAL BOX ~ RARITY !!!!!!!!!!
This is such an INCREDIBLE ATTIC FIND!!! This is a PAIR OF GEORGE WASHINGTON BICENTENNIAL PATSY DOLLS dressed as GEORGE AND MARTHA WASHINGTON!! The most incredible part is they are in a EXTREMELY RARE ORIGINAL BICENTENNIAL RED, WHITE and BLUE BOX marked as follows: G Washington BECENTENNIAL 1732-1932 an EFFANBEE Durable Doll The Doll with the Golden Heart!! THESE ARE FANTASTIC...!!! THEY ARE TOTALLY ORIGINAL FROM HEAD TO TOE. The outfits have normal acceptable ageing and are lightly dirty in areas and could use a refreshening, but are as CRISP as the day they came from the factory. The boys outfit is PERFECT from head to toe, with the exception of MINOR AGEING on his lace cuffs, shirt lace ruffle and socks. Someone pulled his socks down from under his pants and I will leave that to the new owner to take apart. One shoe is PERFECT and one shoe snap has broken from the side, and EASY FIX with BLACK FABRIC tape put BEHIND THE SNAP. His face has some faint spotting but remarkably NO CRAZING!!! and NO PAINT LOSS!! His hair STILL RETAINS THE ORIGINAL LONG CURL down the back with the ORIGINAL BLUE RIBBON. Both the blue ribbon from his hair and the WHITE RIBBON from his vest are a tad tangled in his neck and need readjusting, and he needs restringing...but displays fine as he is in the box..!! MARTHA WASHINGTON is BEAUTIFUL!!! She has a GORGEOUS FELT overdress with SIDE PANIERS decorated with the ORIGINAL TINY FELT FLOWERS!! This heeds a light cleaning and has one small hole w it was pinned closed. It is in a gatd area and could be EASILY CLOSED from BEHIND by using a piece of FABRIC TAPE and you would NEVER SEE IT!! The little lace trim is lightly aged...but MINOR!! Her CRISP ORGANDY DRESS has faded as you can see in photos, but is still beautiful with a couple of pin holes from the pin that was in t to hold the coat closed. Pin is no longer t!! Her pink slip and white bloomers are near perfect just very lightly aged!! She has no shoes or socks..! Her face has a few small lines and a speck of paint missing by ears but is literally PERFECT OTHERWISE!! Her hair has the 2 sausage curls on the side, which need restyling... Her BUN is on the lower back of her head verses the top of her head as shown in the photo in the COMPOSITION BOOK by MERTZ on page 192. She needs restringing but displays fine as she is in the box.. They are both approx 9 1/2" tall and are both marked EFFANBEE PATSYETTE
DOLL on their backs!!! They are ALL COMPOSITION and FULLY JOINTED!! THIS SET is STUNNING!! JUST THE BOX ITSELF is worth the opening bid...it is THAT RARE!! Box is in generally nice condition, with acceptable wear and minor staining. Bottom of box is nice with one edge split about 2" but again ALL OF THIS IS MINOR!!!
Box has ORIGINAL STORE LABEL saying "BOSTON STORE $1.95!!! Can you IMAGINE!! for the PAIR!!!! I have no reserve!!!
