Wright's Sheboygan Wisconsin City Directory 1932.Including Kohler,Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls.Containing an Alphabetical Directory of Business Concerns and Private Citizens,a Directory of Householders,Occupants of Office Buildings and Other Business Places,Including a Complete Street and Avenue Guide,Rural Routes and Much Information of a Miscellaneous Character;also a Buyers'Guide and a Complete Classified Business Directory.Green and orange pictorial covers with title lettering in black and orange and cover illustration of the "Bank of Sheboygan"building.Published by Wright Directory Company Publishers,Fifth Floor,1012 N.Third St.Milwaukee,Wisconsin.Copyright 1932 by Wright Directory Company,illustrated business ads,570 pages.This is the original and certainly scarce 1932 "Wright's City Directory"including the towns of Kohler,Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls,Wisconsin.The directory is filled with great information including statistical information on the city of Sheboygan and its future,listing of City Officials,locations of fire alarm boxes,township officers etc.This section is then followed by the "Classified Buyers' Guide of Sheboygan,Kohler,Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls Wisconsin for 1932" with this section stating "The Buyers' Guide contains the advertisements and business cards of the most progressive businessmen and firms in our city,classified according to lines of business".This section covers pages 21-64 and is printed on dramatic yellow paper and contains both illustrated and non-illustrated Sheboygan business ads such as "Sheboygan Grocery Company,Braun-Herr Hardware Co.Prange-Geussenhainer Co.A.Imig Sons Jewelers,Wisconsin Mirror Plate Co.Sheboygan Paint Co.Otto H.Meves Auto Truck Service and Alfred J.Bewerse Upholstering and Repairing Co."etc.The next section is the actual City Directory with its "Alphabetical List of Names"with the listings telling the occupation of each person listed as for example "Acker Clemens A.(Laura)electrician Chas.A.Honold Co.h501 New York Av."This section begins with "AAA Garage and ends Zywicke Minnie".This section covers pages 65-324.Then follows the "pink paper section" which is Wright's Sheboygan Directory of Householders,Occupants of Office Buildings and Other Business Places,Including a Complete Street and Avenue Guide for 1932.This section begins with Alabama Avenue and ends with Zimbal Avenue and runs from page 325-423.Great for researching where families and businesses were located in Sheboygan in 1932.Then the final sections of the directory are the "Wright's Kohler Directory 1932"(pages 425-36),the "Wright's Plymouth Directory 1932"(pages 437-466)and "Wright's Sheboygan Falls Directory 1932"(pages 467-488).Page 489 contains the "Wright's Sheboygan Classified Business Directory Including Kohler,Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls 1932"with these business listings arranged alphabetically by type of business such as "Accountants and Auditors,Lawyers,Plumbers etc."This section concludes on page 540.The directory ends with section "Wright's Sheboygan County Rural Routes 1932 which lists just the names for the Sheboygan County rural routes for Adell,Cascade,Cedar Grove,Cleveland,Elkhart Lake,Glenbeulah,Oostburg,Random Lake,Sheboygan etc.These listings are by Rural Route Numbers such as "Rural Route 1,Rural Route 3"etc.Each page of the directory has business listings at the top of the page some with small illustrations so there are hundreds of local Sheboygan business listings in the book.The back cover of the directory has ads for "Sheboygan Coal Company,Service Garage Inc.and an illustrated for Ramm Funeral Home".The directory also has a blue cloth tab marker for the "Kohler Company"opposite page 424 still intact.Lots of great information on local Sheboygan business locations,street addresses,occupations of residents in 1932 etc.are contained in this directory.Actual book size is 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches.Condition is very good a nice,tight,complete and essentially clean book.Some fading and rubbing to the covers,some discoloration to c... read more
