We recently purchased a group of old newspapers at a local estate auction. The 2 St. Louis Globe-Democrat newspapers we are offering were among them. The first newspaper we offer (dated Wednesday Morning, November 7, 1934 ) shows the headline "TRUMAN ELECTED IN LANDSLIDE" ..... MISSOURI'S NEW SENATOR, HARRY S. TRUMAN . Mr. Truman was a Judge at that time, and this was just the beginning of his illustrious political career. The newspaper gives that story along with all the other political races. The 72-year-old newspaper has been stored away (folded) all these years. It has staining all along the fold lines. The previous owner cut out an article on the front page (see picture) but it does not interfere with the Truman story. This newspaper contains 10 pages. The second St. Louis Globe-Democrat that we are offering is dated Monday Morning November 5, 1934. The headline reads: " MILLION EXPECTED TO VOTE IN STATE ". It gives news on the political races. It contains a really cool half-page Democratic Party political ad . Also included is a notice to the public, showing the OFFICIAL BALLOTS for the Wednesday election, with Harry S. Truman at the top of the Democratic Party section. This 72-year-old newspaper has been stored away (folded) since that time. It has staining and a 1/2 page tear on the front page (from right to left, center). This newspaper contains 14 pages. I have provided several pictures to show lots of detail.
