Genuine BUCK ROGERS DISINTEGRATOR Model ZX 38 - - NO RESERVE! The Buck Rogers Disintegrator was manufactured by Daisy, (the BB gun folks), starting in 1935, 3 years after the beginning of the comic strip, "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century", written by Phil Nowland and illustrated by Dick Caulkins. Disintegrator production was ended by the threat of US involvement in World War II, because of the shortage of metal for making toys. For most people, these photos are the first good look at a Disintegrator that looks and acts exactly like it did when the kid opened the box, over 70 years ago. This valuable antique toy has been carefully, professionally restored. First, it was cleaned and stripped down to the bare steel. Then the body was replated with copper* by one of the country's top plating houses, in Orlando, FL. The body parts had to be professionally coated with the same type of lacquer Daisy used, the only clear coating that works on copper. The barrel rings and muzzle/sight assembly are now professionally reblued, using the same gunmetal bluing process Daisy used to finish them. (just like the old BB guns.) When you pull the trigger, the gun makes a loud popping sound and a bright spark flashes in the "electronic compression chamber" behind the new, white windows at the top. Without a time machine, you won't find such a perfect example of this old toy. The gun hangs on a beautiful, custom made display stand. The stand is solid oak and has a framed identification plaque, a relief image of Buck himself, and a model of the "Flash Blast Attack Ship" from the original cartoon series. These adornments have been custom sculpted for the stand, and you won't see them anyw else. High bidder gets the gun and the stand together. (Watch for my future auctions for these stands by themselves, as well as the stands for the 3 Atomic Pistols, if you already have the guns.) I'm also including, free, a copy of an old magazine ad for this gun, and a brief description of the model ship. These items have no antique value, but they're interesting to read. * NOTE: Every Disintegrator made had a copper plated factory finish. Daisy NEVER painted them. If you see one that appears to be painted brown, you're looking at copper that has oxydized, (like an old penny), because a lot of kid-handling has worn away the lacquer coating. The starting bid is nothing, and t is no reserve, so have fun bidding. Priority shipping is $15 including full insurance, regardless of the final bid. I will not ship this valuable antique without insurance, so please don't ask for a discount. U.S. bidders only. Sorry, I can't accept PayPal with all their rules, but I'll be happy to take one of those special checks your credit card company keeps sending you. Otherwise, a cashier's check or a money order, please. For POSTAL Money Orders, I'll ship it FREE! All sales are final. I will not refund for buyer's remorse. Please ask questions before bidding.
