This is a very rare and beautiful vintage art deco enamelled clip brooch dated 1935 from the Spirella Corset company, who were based in Letchworth UK from 1910 until 1980. The front of the brooch has the 'S' from the Spirella logo cleverly incorporated into an Art Deco enamelled design in gold, green, black and cream. The brooch says on the inner (back) clip: " Spirella JUBILEE CONFERENCE AT LETCHWORTH AUGUST 1935" (see photo). The hinge is in perfect working order so the brooch clips open and shut firmly and it has 3 tiny metal hooks to attach the closed pin to your collar, lapel or tie. It is 4cm long. It was King George V's Diamond Jubilee in 1935, so it must have been linked by the famous corsetiere to a celebration/conference the company was having and the National celebrations. I bought it in the early 1980s when I lived near Portobello Rd market and found it recently in a box - so it is in great condition and perfect for a collector of UK badges or anyone interested in the Spirella Company.
