1935 General Electric M-51 Radio with Shortwave - WORKS GREAT!

Description
This auction is for a 1935 General Electric M-51 two-band radio.
This is a great looking radio with great sound. The dial lights up and shows two bands: the standard AM Broadcast band, and the 5.5 - 18 Mc shortwave band. T are four knobs that control (left to right) on/off/volume, tone, tuning, and band switch (pulls out for shortwave). The tuning knob can also be pulled out to engage a fine tuning mechanism. The knobs are all original and are the correct ones for this radio.

The wood appears to be walnut veneer and is in very nice condition with no cracks or chips. It has been nicely refinished and has the appropriate reproduction grill cloth. The wood on the front has grain that seems to change from light to dark depending on the angle that you lok at it, so it was difficut to take a good picture, but it looks very nice in normal room light.

The chassis is very clean and in excellent condition. It has been serviced and a new power cord and rubber chassis mounts installed. I'm also including a coil of wire that works as an antenna and is connected to the antenna terminal since this radio requires an external antenna. The dial lights up, the radio works with no hum, and it picks up many stations. It is a very sensitive radio and has plenty of volume with good tone. I've played it quite a bit both on the AM band and shortwave.

Also, t is a large paper label inside the cabinet that identifies the model and shows the tube layout.

Dimensions are 18H x14-1/2W x 10D inches.

This is a very nice radio that I'm sure you will enjoy.
