Authentic, original, not a reprint. March 1, 1935 Vol. 4 No. 3. F.B.I. Bulletin FUGITIVES Wanted by POLICE. FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE John Edgar Hoover, director. Cover image is of Alvin Karpis, who at the time was wanted for the murder of Sheriff G. R. Kelly at West Plains, Missouri and the kidnaping of Edward g. Bremer. Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, was a member of the Barker Gang (think Ma Barker). This was during the time of the last hurrah of the Road agent type Bank Robbers, who to the chagrin of Law Enforcement embraced the then modern technology of fast cars, adequate road systems and machine guns. He was a contemparary of John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bonnie and Clyde & Baby Face Nelson. Most of them were products of the Depression Karpis was some what unique in the live- hard- and- die- young fraternity of the then modern bank robber in that he actually survived to old age. Karpis was listed by the FBI in 1935 as Public Enemy Number One. He was arrested in May of 1936, in New Orleans. Prior to Karpis's arrest, J. Edgar Hoover had received some bad publicity in that he, had never ever actually arrested anyone. So... being one who understood the finer art of a political oppurtinity, he got himself to New Orleans and once his agents grabbed Karpis and made sure he was disarmed, J. Edgar Hoover appeared on the scene and then announce to Karpis he was under arrest. Size is 8 by 10.75 inches. Staple bound with approx 15 pages of fugitives wanted. No images other than that of Alvin Karpis cover photo, but they do have fingerprints next to some of the wanted fugitives listings. Front cover has a bump to the lower left cover and has some apparent insect damage that can be seen in the photo. Still a nice displayable item. Uncommon if not scarce don't let this one get away. Could be framed and displayed.
