You are looking at a vintage Official Boy Scouts of America sheath knife. Looking at this knife I think they should have been called "Man Scouts!" This razor sharp vintage hunting and utility knife is dated at 1936 and will still tackle any outdoor chore up to and including skinning an elk. The famous Marble Knife Co. produced this knife for the Boy Scouts modeled after the one carried by Admiral Byrd on his polar exploration. An advertisement for this knife appears in the Feb 1934 issue of "Boys Life" magazine on page 38. The functional natural brown leather sheath is embossed with the BSA circular "Eagle" logo. It is reinforced with 5 steel rivets and is holding together well despite showing normal wear and missing some stitching. The safety strap snap (say that fast three times LOL) is stamped "MARBLE'S Gladstone Mich." On the back of the sheath is burned in "John Truex '36." If John were 10 years old at the time of his ownership of this knife then he would be 85 now. I pray he is in as fantastic shape as this knife is! The knife itself is classic Marble's style and has a pewter colored bolster, brown leather stacked handle with red accents, brass finger guard, and is stamped "Marble's 5 Gladstone Mich US." The 4.5" stainless high carbon blade is extremely sharp. Please be careful when handling this knife. Any Boy Scout fan or fan of really great knives will love this fine example of American History. TECH SPECS: Blade Length: 4.5" (11.5 cm) Blade Material: High Carbon Stainless Steel Handle Material: Stacked Leather Length Overall: 8 1/4" (21 cm) Leather sheath with embossed Boy Scouts of America Logo and Marbles snap
