For auction is a set of six 1936 GOLD WASHED ENGLISH STERLING Head (London) and the letter A (1936). *The spoons come with a statement: "CORONATION SPOONS.... The original of the Coronation or Anointing Spoon, which is of silver gilt, is used to hold the oil in the ceremony of the Coronation, and forms part of the Regalia in the Tower of London. The bowl, into which the Archbishop dips his fingers, is divided down the middle into two parts. It has been used for the Coronation of English monarchs since the 12th centurt." *On the inside of the case is printed: "By appointment to ---- H.M. The King ---- The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd. 112 Regent Street, London W.I." *Length of spoon 3 7/8". *This is a beautiful set of six Coronation Spoons. The condition of each spoon is excellent. The condition of the case is very good, but the outside leather shows some sign of usage.
