For bid is an original 1936photograph of VINCE LOMBARDI, the legendary Green Bay Packers football coach, playing football for the Fordham University Rams versus the University of Georgia Bulldogs in his senior season of 1936. This game took place Saturday, November 21, 1936 at the Polo Grounds in New York. The game resulted in a 7-7 tie. This terrific game action wire photograph (first generation) shows Lombardi running and blocking for his running back Joseph Duikie during a 10 yard run in the first quarter of the game. He’s wearing uniform #40 at the center of a running play or during a screen pass. Several other players are running and blocking, falling and shouting, etc.. It’s a terrific photograph of the middle of a play. Lombardi was a very good lineman but he set himself apart as an amazing head coach in the NFL several years later. He coached the Green Bay Packers in pro football from 1959 to 1967. He had some other coaching stints, too, but he is so very famous and legendary as the head man of the Packers in Wisconsin. He played football at Fordham in 1934, 1935 and 1936 and he was a senior leader of the team in this image. This is an original, first generation Acme News Photos wire photograph in outstanding condition with nice clarity. It measures 9 by just over 7 inches.
