You are bidding on a rare one–of-a-kind printing plate from the Seattle Post Intelligencer newspaper, dated July 20th, 1936 ; and as of recently the printing presses have stopped at this Seattle landmark which had produced newspapers since the early 1860's - basically since the time of the Civil War. Guaranteed 100% authentic and original ! This is one of many I rescued from a very old building that was to get the wrecking ball in order to construct a new building in its place. These old plates are made of a thin hard rubber or plastic composition that were actually used to wallpaper a small room in the basement of a very old Seattle office building on Queen Anne hill . Since they were nailed to the wall they are not in mint condition – but are still terrific historical pieces of that era. I have kept a couple for myself that referenced a hero of mine Lou Gehrig in a sports section or two, but I thought you might enjoy theseNewspapers are going out of business in many parts of the country, and being replaced by online digital media, but is your one chance to own a piece of Seattle newspaper history - that no one else will certainly have.
