You are bidding on what I believe to be a 1937 Boy Scout Knife. The knife is complete with the sheath and the belt hook. The top of the knife is a sculpted metal horse head with an engraved design. Beneath that is a band of amber and ivory bakelite. The widest portion of the handle is made of something that looks like greenish marble. A chunk of this has broken off and I have tried to picture it clearly for you. In this portion is incised "1937 Jamboree". Right above this you can make out the bottom of the fleur de lis. Another band of bakelite (ivory/amber) follows then the metal piece that holds the blade. This metal piece is engraved with design. The blade is intact though needs cleaning badly. T are no chunks out of the blade. The sheath is made of embossed leather with engraved metal at both ends. The tip looks like a dagger sheath with the metal ball on the end. "Made in Findland" is embossed into the leather just under the top metal band. T is a short chain with a hook at the top. Measures 5.5" long and a little more than 1/2" wide. In the summer of 1937, the Scouts of the world gatd together at Vogelenzang, the Netherlands, for the Fifth World Jamboree. Already the storm clouds of war were forming. It was to be the last such gathering for ten years. I believe this knife came from this Jamboree. This was purchased at an estate sale.
