This auction is for 1 GENUINE personally autographed part of of gameday football program, Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers City Stadium on September 19, 1937, RUSS LETLOW,signed for his teammate Francis 'Zud' Schammel. Russ played for Pack 1936-1942 and after World War 2, Russ played for the 1946 Packers. the fabulous gold shouldered with blue front made of shiny synthetic that would not allow heat dissipation and the Packers got rid of them shortly after the embarassing loss to the College All-Stars in the annual Chicago Tribune event held at Soldier Field and blamed the jersey. SHortly, they continued this famous style til 1948 and in Curly last year 1949, they removed the gold from shoulders, it didn't help and team had disasterous season and Curly gone! This program was obtained from the estate of star football ALL-AMERICAN at the University of Iowa Hawkeyes star and coach for alma mater before taking Curly Lambeau up on his offer to join the WORLD CHAMPION 1936 Packers for the 1937 season! I have scanned two other pages to show autographs BUT THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION! This is for the Team mate of Hinkle, Blood and others Better than a program pennant or ticket stub, this VINTAGE AUTHENTIC AUTOGRAPH is a family heirloom, and the autograph guides are much higher than my starting price. The others are not for sale pending how this one does. Woodward is really tough trainer~ and a couple of the others like Schammel only played in 1937 and very tough to find their autograph too. maybe a couple wrinkles This was taken right from the 70+ year old game issued program and Zud was wise to cherish this item while living~ great memories of the time he had in the pros, Not all were signed. This would look great framed matted of even a game day picture added or publicity photo Walker's Cleaners issue of goal line art. Much tougher than auto'd government postals or postcards or recipe cards. I would not be selling except I have Letlow on a football championship dinner program. Questions? Please email. This is the only one like it in the world-probably. He may have signed other programs, but unlikely this date. Before Vince Lombardi and the Packer power sweep and thunder and lightning Taylor and Hornung, before the Ice Bowl, t was Herber to Hutson. Better than a nodder, this is much rarer than some baseball or basketball player from the same era and this wasn't a BIGGER star. Why pay over $100 for Joe Montana or Brett Favre's autograph or Willie Mays at $500? They may outlive us and sign millions~ ! Bid early and often~ t is NO reserve. All the yellow you see is barely noticeable on the actual item and the picture of Russ is not grainy/wavy that is from the scanner. RARE and before the time when football autograph hounds existed! I don't know his full story on returning to football in 46 and when he died but I do KNOW his autographs are nearly non-existent and on everyone's want lists. T is no listing on any price guides not a hall of famer but played 8 seasons and 72 regular season games plus all the exihibition games.
