1937 ZENITH ~ 9-S-263 ~ CONSOLE This is a 9 tube broadcast & short wave set that we are auctioning with no reserve. Most of the paper caps and one electrolytic capacitor have been replaced. I have also installed a new cord along with two new belts (manual tuning & motor drive belt). Everything else appears to be original (cloth, wood Z knobs, dial, glass, & cover). The cabinet has it's share of battle scars, but still looks good. We think the finish is original. I have cleaned the wood & rubbed Howard Restore-A-Finish, & Beeswax on it. The previous owner made two repairs on the top veneer (pics #10 & #11). I was going to re-veneer the entire top, but thought it added caracter to the piece. Will let the new owner decide. Chassis is exceptionally clean & all functions work well. The "Robot" dial (motorized tuning) is smooth with no hesitations & lightning quick! Speaker was cracked in two spots (pic #4) when we purchased it. They were siliconed, and have held well when the volume is turned up. This is a set that we have left on all day a few times & it does not loose any volume, nor does the transformer get hot. Still has the nice rich Zenith sound. The chassis will need some attention. I have noticed a slight hum when the volume is off. Also, she is not picking up as many stations as it use too. I think that replacing the rest
