Attention Collectors! Rare 1938 Limited Edition Muse Anthology of Modern Poetry Poe Memorial Edition is a vintage Limited Edition hardcover book that would be a fantastic addition to a collection!You are bidding on a vintage hardcover book titled Muse Anthology of Modern Poetry. Published by Carlyle Straub, New York, 1938. T were only three thousand copies of these produced and this is copy number 26. It is a very desirable low numbered copy. This is a very thick book crammed with goodies! Tipped-in frontispiece portrait of Poe by Franklin Booth. Indexes with Acknowledgements and Errata on concluding leaves. Magnificent edition of Poe's work with an anthology of critical essays; the text is divided into seven books (i.e chapters): 1 - POE, COMMENTARY STUDIES, ESSAYS AND POETIC TRIBUTES; 2 - THE POETIC PRINCIPLE, BY EDGAR A. POE and POEMS BY EDGAR A. POE; 3 - LYRICS BY CONTEMPORARY POETS; 4 - SONNETS BY CONTEMPORARY POETS; 5 - QUATRAINS BY CONTEMPORARY POETS; 6 - VERS LIBRE BY CONTEMPORARY POETS; and 7 - ADDENDA which has four mounted facsimiles. The latter include a fold-out reproduction of "The Raven" manuscript in Poe's hand, a reproduction of an 1845 letter in Poe's hand, a fold-out facsimile of the initial "The Evening Mirror" (first newspaper appearance) publication of "The Raven," and a fold-out facsimile of the initial "The American Review" (first magazine appearance). 866 pages, plus facsimiles and acknowledgements, are very clean and tightly bound. Covers securely attached with no cracking. No writing in book at all and no signs of previos ownership. Book is in very good condition. This is a scarce Limited Edition book!
