I am currently selling a series of great Richard Wagner and classic European orchestral recordings on all the great European labels: Emil von Sauer is viewed by many as the greatest of Liszt’s pupils that made recordings This is a 1938 recording made by Emil von Sauer with Felix Weingartner conducting the Paris Conservatory Orchestra 3x VIVA TONAL 12" 78 rpm record with original album and notes Condition: BETTER THAN EXCELLENT pristine, album almost like new From Although Emil von Sauer is viewed by many as the greatest of Liszt’s pupils that made recordings, those who met him were struck by his simple, direct, unaffected manner. His humility and lack of flamboyance may in part be responsible for his now being overshadowed by other Liszt pupils, but no less a figure than Josef Hofmann singled out Sauer alone among the Liszt pupils in a letter he wrote to critic Harold C.
