Historical Hollywood: Original Notes and “My Friends” Bookfor Andy Hardy Characters by screenwriter and producer Carey Wilson Plus Three Inter Office MGM Memos by writer William Ludwig and Sam Kress! Offered from the estate of screenwriter and producer Carey Wilson is a fascinating and original address style book of his “friends” which is actually the characters for the famous Andy Hardy movie series which Wilson helped write and produce. Second page has “Property of Carey Wilson MGM Studios”. The book was made in 1938 so it is safe to assume this was at or near the date of the writing. The small book is titled “My Friends and things I should remember about them” and please note the cover is loose and laid on top in the photo. Otherwise the book is in great shape and a fascinating read into the characters and their backgrounds. Beginning of course with Col. James Standish Leeds and ending with Wm. & Dora Northcott it has all the famous characters with notes on many. Please look at the photographs and you’ll get a feel for the style of the entries…some are longer than others. Judy Garland’s character “Betsy Booth” actually has little additional writing.
