1939-S OREGON TRAIL 50C PCGS 65I personally purchased this coin in it's graded holder back around 1990 or so, this generation of PCGS holder was being used between 1990 and 1995. This is simply a gorgeous example of one of the lowest mintage's (3005) of any early U.S. silver commemorative. My opinion is that it has a satiny luster, and is completely white with no toning seen. It appears to be a very well struck specimen, as both hands of the Indian have detail and are not flattened. The extended left hand of the Indian can be seen to show all five fingers, and the right hand grasping the bow clearly shows the thumb as separate from the rest of the fingers on the hand, and not flattened like so many other Oregon's tend to exhibit.A final word, coins in these older generation PCGS holders are known to be conservatively graded compared to later PCGS slabbed coins, so as a result, coins like this one being offered, very well may command a higher grade today than the original grade given back in 1990.Also, any scratches seen in the photos are on the holder itself and not on the coin. If you have any further questions about the coin, please do not hesitate to ask. I realize photos are rarely perfect, especially mine, and I want you to have all your concerns addressed prior to making a buy decision, so please ask any and all questions. read more
