This is a newly produced 1/1440 scale model of the Trylon and Perisp . It sits on a 5 inch X 5 inch varnished wooden base. The entire piece measures 5 X 5 X 5 inches. In 1935, a group of retired policemen conceptualized the 1939 New York World's Fair . The fair was held in Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York. It was hoped that the attraction would inspire the U.S. during the troubled times of the Great Depression. The centerpiece of this exposition was the Trylon and Perisp . It was designed by J. Henry Fouiloux, the interior was imagined by Henry Dryfuss. The interior showed an optimistic vision of a future utopia; it was called Democracity . The Perisp was an immense globe, measuring 180 feet; the needle-like Trylon towered 700 feet. The futuristic display was surrounded by the Helicline , w the site seers would walk down after touring the hopeful promises held within the Perisp .
