______________________ Offering this Heavy Sterling Silver Collar - Created by Francisco Rivera of Taxco! _________________________________________ ________________________________________________ This Stellar Piece of Artisan Jewelry was designed by Francisco Rivera of Taxco, Mexico. Rivera honed his considerable design and silversmith skills when he worked for William Spratling, the “Father of Mexican Silver”. (He would later design for “Emma” Melendez.) This particular Silver Collar is imprinted only with Rivera’s conjoined FR and thus, predates his work for “Emma”. It was probably produced in the Late Thirties to Early Forties. The collar or neck-piece is composed of 925 Sterling Silver and weighs a hefty 110 grams. Its design is based on Pre-Columbian Motifs, and reflects his time working with Wm. Spratling. The collar has a bright polished surface with its oxidized background giving a real dimensional quality to its simple & striking design. It was made for a slender neck. (It did fit a 13” neck easily, so we would guess that an inch or two either way would be a good fit, too.) The top edge of the collar flares out at the bottom so that it easily rests at the base of the throat. It measures 5-1/8” across the top edge at its widest point, was, the bottom edge (at the same point) measures 5-3/4 inches. (T is a gap of 2-3 read more
