For auction is an original 1940 WW2 German K98 BAYONET with MATCING NUMBERS . This piece would complete your historic rifle and/or collection perfectly. Please check out the Super Nice Frog that came with this bayonet. It is listed separately. Blade Marked E.PACK&S . It was made by Ernst Pack und Sohne (&Son) in Solingen, Germany in 1940 . Marked with serial number 238 d . Obviously, it is harder to come across 3-digit numbers than the more common 4-digit. Blade spine is marked 40 for 1940 . Marked with five Waffenampts (factory proof marks). T are two Eagles and WaA253? stampings on the rear of the pommel, one Eagle and WaA253? on the release button, one Eagle partially visible under the rear of the flashguard, and one Eagle on the inside part of the release mechanism. T is ~95% of the original finish on the blade. It is near mint with finish missing only from going in and out of the scabbard. The handles are black bakelite and are in excellent shape with no damage. The blade has not been sharpened. The release button functions perfectly.Scabbard Marked with E.PACK&S 1940 with the same serial number 238 d . Marked with Waffenampt Eagle and WaA253? on the finial or ball end. The spring screw is still intact. T is a large amount of original blueing left. T are no dents. T several scrapes and scratches near the frog stud.
