1940 Hand made and hand painted Hula Scrapbook from a sailor on the Destroyer, the U.S.S. Dale stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii right before WWII. The cover is hand painted oil on masonite with a koa wood spline, back cover is plain with twine binding the pages in. The photos are are a mixed group of the sailors in Pearl Harbor and visiting Hawaii, doing what sailors do... peeling potatoes, relaxing, drawing, catching a big shark, posing on a gun barrel, wash day, their hangouts and a some scenics around Hawaii as well as some views of Pearl Harbor circa 1940.. The YMCA, Black Cat, Aunty with pineapple, other destroyers, a carrier and some of the pictures are hand tinted including some of Pearl Harbor. Some nice tourist shots of Honolulu. ALBUM SIZE: 10 inches wide X 12" Tall.... CONDITION: Album very nice hand paining on cover some slight scruffing but overall nice color and VG condition. Photos are clean almost all can be removed from holders without damaging. Most are 4-5 wide X 3.5 and 2-3/4 inches X 2 inches. Approx: 60 plus photos and a few cards. ......
