Extreemly RARE and Unique Olympic Game Treasures . Four strips of the top row of (5) stamps with imprint in all (4) colors issued. The Imprint reads "American Victory Stamp ", The American Olympic Committee has issued these Olympic Stamps to help raise the funds required to send the foremost amateur athletes in the United States to the 1940 Olympic Games. All are Mint Never Hinged. Design: Set of 4 Stamps, Rose Red, Magenta, Blue, and Yellow-Green, Perf 11.5. Issued prior to 1940 Games by the American Bank Note Company for the American Olympic Committee to help raise funds required to send the team from the United States to Helsinki and St. Moritz. These games were both canceled due to the outbreak of World War II. The games in Helsinki would have been the XII Summer Olympics and the games in St. Moritz, Switzerland would have been the V Winter Olympics. Both cities were allowed to host the Olympics after the war, Helsinki in 1952 and St. Moritz in 1948. Condition; Very Fine, some slight toning with age, some edge curling and slight damage to the right side of the blue and yellow green strip.Lots over $50.00 are charged either $3.85 for U.
