This is a Cram's Universal Terrestrial 7" Globe, No. 73. Made by hand back in 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana. World War II had been raging in the Pacific already for a couple of years, and was about a year underway in Europe. Globe is in Fine condition. At one time it belonged to my "Uncle Max", brother to my great grandmother. When he died in the early 1980's, and we helped clean out his house in preparation for a sale, they asked me if I wanted anything, and this 7" globe from the past caught my eye. It truly is a wonder to look at how the world has changed in the past 2/3 of a century. For example, India stretches all the way from Iran to over near Yungchang, China. French Indochina is still present, rather than the present day Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The puppet government of Manchoukuo can be seen in a large area of NE China, w Japan has invaded and taken control. You can also see the country of Tannu Tuva in between the U.S.S.R. and Mongolia. The map shows U.S. control over the "Commonwealth of the Philippines" until 1945. Africa has numerous colonies, such as Italian East Africa, French Equatorial Africa, etc. Prussia still shows up on the map of Europe. Even North America shows up a little different, since the NW Territories in Canada didn't show Nunavut.Shipping will be by parcel post, and includes delivery confirmation. read more
