Beautiful 1940s blue plaid cotton shirt, by Wheatsheaf/C.W.S. (the Co-Op) with CC41 Utility label. Perfect size 36”. Might fit a shorter 38” too, see measurements below. Tartan pattern in dark and pale blue large checks with thin white and red cross stripes. Overall impression is of medium blue. Lightweight, fine weave, 100% cotton. Gusseted sleeve openings. Collar has stiffening pockets underneath. Label reads C.W.S. WHEATSHEAF MAKE CC41 and is stamped 2 and X226 . Very good condition. Collar button missing, but a shirt like this would normally be worn open necked anyway. No real problems that I can see. This is one of several beautiful vintage shirts I am listing in a variety of patterns and colours. chest, armpit to armpit: 21” arms, down top edge: 22 ¾” Tailor’s Arm, from centre base of collar to tip of cuff: 30 ¾ ” back, from base of collar: 26 ½” shoulders, straight across top back: 16” Collar: 14 ½” All measurements taken with garment fastened, laid flat, and with a cloth tape (not metal).
