This set is in great condition and I am quite sure from the history that it dates to at least the 1940's. This was purchased from an estate auction and the "children" who are now in t 60's remember it from their youth. Made from heavy gage cardboard with litho paper over this which is still all intact and in great condition. Originally t was some assembly but I will leave and ship assembled. The 10 chalkware figures are all glued in place. They include Baby Jesus, Mary, two angels and two sheep on the right hand side. The Carousel includes Joseph and the Three Wise Men and they measure 3" in height. All of these are in very good condition except for Mary who has a small chip on the bottom of her garmet (pictured) which could be touched up with paint. The carousel winds on the top, the figures rotate, and the Helvetic Swiss music box which is located on the bottom plays "Silent Night". These all function properly. This set measures 10" tall, 11 3/4" wide and is 6" deep. The title on the front is "The First Christmas". The back has the history of this Christmas and also the maker name of "Clemco" which also states "Manufactors of America's Finest Electric Christmas Tree Outfits". This Co. was making lights in the 1930's. T is also a slot on the back for mounting a Christmas tree bulb as pictured. This would light the front scene. The children said that the cloth covered cord was frayed with wires exposed so they discarded it. You could easily replace this with a new cord as I have seen these sold at Hobby Shops. Very nice display piece with light soil that came from a smoke free home. T is no musty smell present.
