Very rare 1940'S marked designer FRANCOIS gold plated brooch or pendant with clear faceted prong seated crystal rhinestone surrounding a lucite cameo. Measures a generous 2 1/4" long x 1 7/8" wide and is in excellent condition. Francois - Coro tried to give their costume jewelry a "French" touch and Francois was chosen as the name for their higher end jewelry. The line was introduced in 1933. But the line only lasted until 1944 when it was replaced by Vendome as Coro's Couturier division. Francois was one of the new designers at Coro in 1938. He later went on to found his own company, with costume jewelry designs marked Francois . This is from an estate in Colorado from a lady who recently passed away. She was a very elegant lady who loved to shop for beautiful items. I am helping her dear husband of 50 years sell her items and will be listing a large amount of exquisite items for him.
