Description : Four related letters concerning the application for the Royal Warrant for Services rendered to King George VI. The King, with Queen Elizabeth, visited Northern Ireland and Melville & Co Ltd of 95, Townsend Road, Belfast, provided the vehicles used by the Royal party. These four letters are ( 1) 20th July 1945 - From Government House, Hillsborough, Northern Ireland - Letter to accompany a cheque for £8 to give to the drivers from Their Majesties. ( 2) 23rd July 1945 - From Commander Oscar Henderson CVO, CBE, DSO, RN to say thank you for the gifts ( 3) 17th December 1945 - From Royal Mews, Windsor Castle concerning the application for a Royal Warrant to Messrs Melville & Company Ltd. The application was refused. ( 4) - 20th December 1945 - From Government House, Hillsborough, passing on the bad news, but there is still some hope. Condition: Very Good. Please see photographs.
