This is a very rare, unusual, and complete first generation KIT CAT KLOCK made by the Allied Manufacturing Company of Seattle, Washington. It is an electrical clock and was made sometime in the 1940's. (A guide to the history of the manufacturer of these clocks and method used to determine their age can be found on their website - . These clocks are now made by the California Clock Company and are now all battery operated). This all original 1940's black Kit Cat Klock is made of bakelite (plastic) with an all metal backing. It has luminous (glow in the dark) clock hands and eyes. The dial is also unique to the 1940's as it has the minutes in between the numerals all around the clock face. This clock comes with a metal tail, which again is also unique to the earlier clocks. This first generation Kit Cat Klock has only one set of paws with only three toes painted white on each paw. It does not have a bowtie as those were introduced mid-1950's, as were the second set of paws. This clock is clean and solid with no cracks, breaks, or chips in the bakelite body. The metal backing is original, clean, and straight. Embossed in the metal are UL (Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.) logo, the company logo - Allied Mfg. Co., Seattle, Wash., and 115 Volts - 60 Cycles - 3 Watts, Model C2. This clock works, (the eyes move and the tail sways back and forth), but is sluggish and needs attention. It sometimes stops and the tail needs to be manually moved to get it started again. I had it plugged in for a short period and it ran for about 15 minutes and stopped. During that period the minute hand advanced as it should, so I assume it keeps proper time. The motor was very quiet while running and all it probably needs is a good cleaning and lubrication. You could have it sent to the Kit Cat Service Center for a cleaning and servicing. (That information is also available on the Kit Cat Klock website). Or hang it on your wall "as is" and add it to your Kit Cat Klock collection. This is an early, first generation Kit Cat Klock and bound to go up in value as time goes on. Note: The electrical cord has been replaced with a newer one and a screw on the top of the back plate is missing. Other than that, this clock is all original and complete. Selling at a very reasonable starting price with no reserve. Ask any and all questions before bidding . All bids are final, No Returns. View all pictures prior to placing your bid to determine whether or not to bid. Bid to win and Good Luck!
