1940's vintage Westclox electric alarm clock, model S5 "Bachelor " .The clock runs well, quietly, and keeps accurate time. Self-starting movement. The alarm sets and works right too. The alarm dial is on the back and osets with the knob to the left of it. Set the time with the center knob. The small knob to the left resets the red dot power indicator seen above the 6 on the front dial face, flops to red if power is lost. Manually reset it with a flick of that reset knob. The case is solid blue Bakelite, or some kind of molded phenolic material, whatever Westclox called it, it's not plaskon nor plastic, and it is clean and shiny, no cracks no damage. Brass metal pillowy shaped accent strips at the top and bottom wrapping around the sides. The 2 original felt pads are in good condition. The square convex dial lens looks okay, clean, no cracks, some very minor surface scratches. The two-tone metal dial face is beige with gold number ring, black numbers and hands, red smooth sweep seconds hand. Some oxidation on the gold number ring. Good power cord with molded non-polarized plug.Stands 4-3/4 inches tall, 5-1/4 inches wide, 1-15/16 inches deep.
