Huge group of original negatives (35mm) of late 1940s? whale hunt and scientific experiments. I purchased them at an estate sale about 10 years ago. I have made machine prints of all the negs, on a color processor, hence the magenta tone to these. Approx. 150 negatives/prints with about 70% actually of the boat, whaling, life on the boat, science experiments, etc. The rest show the guys in a port, hanging out with people, doing touristy stuff, taking pictures of other boats, landscapes, etc. Some of the boat names shown in these images are the Hektor VI London, Southen Venturer, Setter X, Vieille Montagne IV, etc. The crew seems to be Norwegian and English. T are some really amazing images in T are experiments being done on board and a large lab on the boat. One of the tests is the effect of Aureomycin on keeping qualities of whale meat. Various images show the guys having fun on the boat--boxing, playing volleyball, drinking and hanging out, tattoos and pin-ups,etc. They are also shown carving a whale, cleaning the lab/deck, tracking a whale in the water, etc. The time period looks like the late 1940s to me but it's possible it's the early 1950s. GREAT GREAT set. Negs are mostly in good condition but t are some scatches and image quality varies in terms of exposure. View images for more detail! Shipping is high due to weight of the 150 4x6 prints.
