1941 COLUMBIA HARTFORD SPECIAL DELUXE 26" BOYS BALLOON TIRE BICYCLE

GOOD OVERALL CONDITION FOR THE AGE. THE BIKE IS VERY STRAIGHT AND HAS SOME CORROSION ON THE CHROMED SURFACES AND SOME SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT. ORIGINAL TANK WITH HORN UNIT BUT HORN DOESN'T WORK. THE FRONT TIRE APPEARS TO HOLD AIR BUT THE REAR WILL NOT TUBE NEEDS REPLACED. TIRES ARE NOT ORIGINAL. THE FRONT FENDER HAS A SMALL HOLE RUSTED THROUGH IT BUT IS OTHERWISE SOLID. THE REAR FENDER IS GOOD. THE CARRIER IS IN PLACE AS ARE THE KICKSTAND AND THE FOLD DOWN STAND. COLUMBIA BADGED THESE FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT COMPANIES AND THIS ONE IS BADGED AS A C.W. PINNELL, INC HARLEY RICHMOND, VA SERIAL NUMBER APPEARS TO BE F97580 AND ON THE BACK FENDER T IS A BADGE THAT SAYS RICHMOND BICYCLE 15767. THE REAR HUB IS STAMPED ELIPSE MACHINE DIVISION ELMIRA NEW YORK AND THE COASTER BRAKE ASSEMBLY IS INSCRIBED MORROW. THE REAR REFLECTOR IS STAMPED PERSONS MAJESTIC MFG CO WORCESTER MASS U. S. PERSONS NO 219 PATENTED JUNE 18 1925 AND NOV. 7 1933. A VERY MODEST RESERVE (HAS BEEN LOWERED) HAS BEEN SET FOR THIS GREAT PIECE OF BICYCLE HISTORY. ASK QUESTIONS WE'LL HAPPILY ANSWER THEM.

Shipping is available for this item but the winning bidder is responsible for all costs associated with shipping including packaging and insurance. I'LL PACKAGE THE BICYCLE VERY CAREFULLY BUT INSURANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I would estimate shipping & handling at $150 but please e-mail your zip code prior to bidding if you need an exact amount. It would be best to arrange for local pick up or I'm willing to deliver a reasonable distance for a fee, say 50 cents per one way mile.
