Letter from Me-iung Ting of the Peiyang Women's Hospital in Tientsen to Dr. Abby Turner at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Three type-written half pages, one small photo, with stamped envelope. Written on Sept 25th, 1941 (probably the last letter out before we went to war with Japan and China was effectively cut off from the rest of the world), she begins by saying she just got Turners July 31st letter from Woods Hole, but it was censored. She says they always just talk about normal everyday things. She would like a reprint of Turner's article on the optimum weight for college women. She talks about the two basic groups of children (essentially thin and fat) and how the first group has better health, wonders if the same is true with college students. She says it was kind of Turner to visit Yoeh ming in Hingham (she has sent all of her nieces and nephews to the US to study and to get away from the Japanese), she expresses gratitude to Mrs. Shute for taking him in on short notice. She says it is harder now to get children out, the US has changed the law and you must have two sponsors in the US, many wait for boats in Shaghai, are stranded.
