For auction is an original 1942 WW2 German K98 BAYONET with MATCHING NUMBERS . This piece would complete your historic rifle and/or collection perfectly. Blade Marked 42 crs . It was made by Paul Weyersberg und Co. in Solingen, Germany in 1942 . "crs" was the war-time code used by this manufacturer. Marked with serial number 4265 b . The last two digits of the serial number 65 are stamped on the inside part of the release mechanism. Marked with four Waffenampts (factory proof marks). T are two Eagles and WaA519 stampings on the rear of the pommel, one Eagle partially visible under the rear of the flashguard, and one Eagle and WaA519 stamping on the inside part of the release mechanism. The grips are black bakelite. The release button does function properly. It does look like it will mount on a rifle properly. The blade has been sharpened and reblued. T is a light coat of grease on the blade. The finish on the handle metal is worn down quite a bit.Scabbard Marked with the same markings: 42 crs and 4265 b . The spring screw is intact. The finial or ball end is stamped with a Waffenampt Eagle and WaA519 . The blade slides in and out perfectly. T are no major dents. Most of the finish has worn down.
