Up for auction is a beautiful airmail cover from a sergeant Leon Pitnereres, a French volunteer with the Waffen SS fighting on the Eastern Front against the Red Army, he was apparently stationed in Krakow Poland, General Government, when he mailed this cover to a Karl Pravlicek in Vienna. Stamp on cover is the privately issued propaganda semi postal stamp issued by the LVF, Action Committee for the Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism, it was designed to raise money for the French SS soldiers. it had no postal significance but could be put on mail for propaganda and recruiting purposes. This cover has the propaganda stamp on it but was mailed via feldpost which did not require postage. Extremely rare on cover. Beautiful stamps and cancels. Postmark is not clear but appears to be 1942. In excellent condition. Priced to sell. Very nice Feldpost cancel.
